The Cost of Living

Save your time and money

About

Welcome to The Cost of Living – helping you save time, money and more.

Is there ever enough time or money?

My name is Jim, and I’ve always loved personal finance. Although saving my allowance for a new bike when I was younger or budgeting to pay for student loans after graduation were challenging, the process of overcoming such obstacles was both gratifying and invaluable. Working in the financial services industry for many years helped me learn the ins and outs of the investment world, but in today’s difficult economic conditions, common sense and hard work are more important than ever.

The Cost of Living is a personal finance blog, with a particular focus on topics of interest to recent college graduates and members of Generations X and Y. By returning to school to earn an MBA degree, I was fortunate to learn more about a number of these, including social media, career development, global business and social entrepreneurship.

This year brought significant changes to my life. I finally decided to quit my job and pursue two of my passions: travel and self-employment. I’m very excited to begin this new chapter, and hope to be able to share it with you.

I love to hear from readers. Please ask a question, suggest a topic or just say “hi” using the contact page.
